It takes a lot of practice and experience to be able to pick up any recipe and bake from it. Learn the basics now so that you will know how to tackle your next recipe. The only things that distinguishes them are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/bakeschool.com\/baking-ratios-to-remember\/\"><strong>ratios of ingredients<\/strong><\/a> and the amounts used relative to each other<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bakeschool.com\/baking-basics-mixing-methods\/\">mixing methods<\/a><\/strong>, meaning the way you combine ingredients<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The more you bake, the more you'll have questions about <a href=\"\/category\/baking-science\/\">baking science<\/a>. For example, which <a href=\"https:\/\/bakeschool.com\/leavening-agents-in-baking\/\">leavening agents and chemical leaveners<\/a> should you use? Do you need <a href=\"https:\/\/bakeschool.com\/what-is-baking-powder\/\">baking powder<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/bakeschool.com\/focus-on-baking-soda\/\">baking soda<\/a>? These ingredients can make or break a baking recipe, so it's important to understand which to use when.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get the right baking gear<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The right <a href=\"\/category\/baking-equipment\">baking equipment<\/a> will make your life in the kitchen a lot easier. Start by investing in this bundle of <a href=\"https:\/\/bakeschool.com\/baking-conversion-charts\/\">baking conversion charts<\/a> to help you convert ingredient measurements, temperatures, and more. You will need these charts to become a better baker with more consistent results! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideally, you will start weighing your ingredients to measure them. For this, you'll need a kitchen scale and I highly recommend this <a href=\"https:\/\/aax-us-east.amazon-adsystem.com\/x\/c\/Qthsss2gnaay7sZlD--s7uoAAAFxiWi0-AEAAAFKAe-Nmkw\/https:\/\/assoc-redirect.amazon.com\/g\/r\/https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B000WJMTNA\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?creativeASIN=B000WJMTNA&amp;imprToken=4a8PXfHSpsLA5bz5ZNVe-A&amp;slotNum=3&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;linkCode=w61&amp;tag=kitch02-20&amp;linkId=c5135c6badfcc9f3f605299c37bdb433&amp;language=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">OXO scale on Amazon<\/a>, which I've been using for over a decade! There's actually a new version of the OXO scale on <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2RJVXcI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Amazon<\/a>, but I haven't tested it yet. Let me know if you have!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You'll need a set of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2VigkA2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">measuring spoons<\/a>, if you don't already have them, and a set of glass liquid measuring cups, like this Pyrex set on <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2RGzMV1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Amazon<\/a>, which is what I use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are very new to the kitchen, you might need to buy a mixer, baking pans, and piping bags too.
